A do it yourself pergola project is not something that you want to rush through.  Depending on the scope of the project you will want to budget two full days or even four full days of work to the project.  If you hurry through the process you may be giving up quality or stability, which is not advisable when it is something that you will be sitting beneath.  Take your time, choose the right materials, and do a great job so you come away with something that you can really be proud of.
